CURRICULUM The academic program at Saint Patrick School accommodates children of
varying scholastic levels, enabling our students to build a foundation
of basic skills, improve their knowledge and appreciation of academic
content areas, and develop personal and social responsibility, critical
thinking skills, and a desire and love for learning.
In doing so, the faculty emphasizes a firm foundation in
disciplined learning, exemplary academic standards, and skills that
challenge and prepare students for higher education.
Kindergarten – Grade 5 In the elementary school grades, students acquire daily instruction in
the primary academic subjects, including reading, spelling, penmanship,
literature, science, mathematics, language arts, and social studies.
Our reading curriculum involves a combination of teaching methods
including phonics, letter and word recognition, and decoding strategies
to accommodate a diversity of learning styles.
Grades 6 – 8 The middle school students at Saint Patrick School receive daily
instruction in reading, spelling, literature, and language arts.
In addition, mathematics, science, and social studies instruction
vary by grade, as follows:

Pre-Algebra – grades 7 and 8
§
Algebra I – grades 7 and 8
§
Physical Science – grade 6
§
Life Science – grade 7
§
Earth Science – grade 8
§
Western Civilization/ Ancient History – grade 6
§ U.S. History (Revolution to the Civil War) – grade 7
§ U.S. History (Civil War to present) – grade 8 In addition to the core curriculum, all students are exposed to art, music, physical education, library and computer skills (K-5), and computer technology(6-8). All students from Kindergarten through 8th grade study Spanish. SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT As a Roman Catholic school, we firmly believe in
sharing the Catholic faith, traditions and vision of our Church by
providing our students with a Christ-centered, integrated curriculum.
In addition to daily religious education classes for all grades, we
provide a variety of school and parish activities that enable students to
learn the Good News of Jesus Christ and grow in their personal
relationship with the Lord.
These
activities include:

Children’s Church Choir

Weekly classroom visits from our parish priests

Stations of the Cross during the Lenten season

Preparation for the Sacraments of Penance, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation
